I recommend clothing that feels comfortable yet semi-formal, and coordinated rather than perfectly matched.
Choose a palette of 2 or no more than 3 complementary and muted/neutral colors such as creams, whites, warm or cool neutrals, muted earth tones, or black.
Avoid bright colors, print patterns, logos, or athletic wear.
Textures photograph wonderfully — knit, chiffon, cotton, denim, wool.
Women should consider clothing with movement — dresses, skirts, loose trousers or a loose sweater or blazer layer to play with.
Men can consider button down shirts, a henley or sweater, neutral chinos or trousers, and layers such as cardigan sweaters, jackets or blazers.
Children should wear comfortable clothing and soft fabrics; nothing overly formal or stiff. Same ideas as what is suggest for women and men in regard to layers and flowing fabric.
Most importantly, wear clothing that feels comfortable and feels like you. When you feel at ease, you look at ease.
Also consider where your portraits will live in your home. Choose colors that complement your décor and fit naturally in your space.

Professional hair and makeup is not required for your portraits, but I highly recommend our professional makeup artist for a camera-ready, finished look. We can arrange for our makeup artist to be at the studio for your shoot. Keep in mind that what is most important is that you look like yourself, so I do not advise that you change your hairstyle radically or wear bolder makeup colors than you typically would. Natural is better. Lip balm is recommended for everyone to keep your lips looking moisturized. Avoid iridescent products and anything with glitter. If you have blemishes or other temporary marks on your face, you do not need to reschedule. Retouching is included and is always completed very naturally. You will never look "retouched."
